Awards

ANNUAL AWARDS MEETING

The Annual Meeting is held in June. This is a luncheon meeting and takes place at a town venue. Menu choices are provided in advance and members must register and pay a luncheon fee to attend. See Calendar for date, time, and location.

In the years in which elections of officers are held (even years), the new officers are introduced by the outgoing officer in each position and installed by the President.

Club awards are presented to recipients in recognition of commendable achievement in the Club. See the Awards Point Scale below.

Awards are presented at the Annual Awards Meeting in recognition of commendable achievement in the Club. The point scale for exhibiting in Horticulture and Design is:

** Members also gain one participation point by exhibiting either horticulture or design on the Education Table.

All National Garden Club Top Awards will be awarded 5 extra points: Tri-Color for Design, Award of Merit for Horticulture (see 2007 Handbook, Ch. 3, pp 41–55 for other top awards available in a Standard Flower Show).

CLUB AWARDS

Civic Award is presented to a representative of an organization in Madison that has made the greatest contribution that reflects the goals of the Club (see Article II, section 1 of the GCM bylaws)

Design Award is given to the member who has shown the greatest participation in design activities including: workshops, flower shows and monthly meetings. 

Flower Show Award is presented to the member who shows remarkable achievement by earning the most points from awards for Design and/or Horticulture in Garden Club of Madison or standard flower shows. 

Green Thumb Gardening Award is presented to the member who has shown the greatest participation in, but not limited to: volunteering in town gardens, planting bulbs, plants sale, garden gang, opening up personal garden. Sharing plants as well as knowledge of and enthusiasm for gardening. This award is made to individual member only once. 

Horticulture Award is given to the member who has shown greatest participation in Horticulture activities including: the quarterly bulletin, flower shows, workshops and monthly meetings. 

Civic Garden Award is given to the member who has made the biggest contribution to the care and maintenance of the Civic Gardens.

Joan Kemp Award is given to the member who is recognized as an outstanding novice in Design, as indicated by her willingness to exhibit in Design throughout the year. 

Mary Hull Littell Award is presented to the member who has been an active and dedicated participant in all aspects of the Club for more than five years. This award is made to an individual member only once.

President’s Award is given to the member who has shown outstanding dedication to Club activities during the year. This award is made to an individual only once.

New Initiative Award is awarded to the member who has shown greatest initiative in implementing new projects, in line with the Club’s objectives.

Recipients will receive a gift certificate of $50 to the Madison Flower Shop.
