The Allis-Bushnell House

This 1789 house is owned by the Madison Historical Society and is located on Route One, east of the Scranton Library. The Club maintains the gardens which include two perennial gardens as well as a traditional Herb Garden at the rear of the house, planted with culinary and medicinal herbaceous plants that were commonly used in Connecticut in the 18th and 19th centuries. The garden serves as a delight to visual and olfactory senses, and as an educational tool and a quiet retreat for relaxation and contemplation.
